Ensenada Mexico Cruise

Daniel asks…

How safe is it to debark in Ensenda, Mexico from a cruise?

We’re travelling the first week of June with five children, ages 8-17 and would like to go ashore. My ex-husband refuses to sign the waver for us to debark. Is he being paranoid? I know about the recent problems up and down Baja, but can’t find anything troubling about Ensenada at all. HELP!

Tijuana answers:

Of course Ensenada is safe. The area where you’ll be disembarking is near the main tourist area. It’s set up to cater to tourists. The city works hard to keep this area safe, clean and inviting. There are great deals to be had on silver and gold jewelry, leather goods and artist crafts. And what’s a trip to Mexico without buying a neat little blanket to take home with you?

The food is great in Ensenada, which is well known for its seafood. There are nice restaurants there on the tourist strip. If you’re feeling like grabbing more of the local flavor, head to the fish market that is right along the water, just north of the bayfront park and west of the central shopping area. There you’ll find lots of tiny little restaurants that serve awesome seafood dishes.

I’m a mom and a veteran Mexico traveler (and former resident). Ensenada is totally, totally safe and enjoyable. I took my three young nieces there, along with my young son, a couple of years ago, and they loved it. Ensenada is Mexico, but a very Americanized version of it. It’s a good first stop for someone not familiar with mainland Mexico.

Please tell your ex-husband not to pay too much attention to the scare-stories. You guys will be fine.

And geez, does everybody have to throw in the thing about the water? I mean who drinks unfiltered tap water in the U.S. Anymore either?

Linda asks…

When is the best time to take a cruise to Baja Mexico and a suggested cruise line?

I live in las vegas nevada and I have never been on a cruise and I dont know anything about ithem or what to look for, what time of year to go ? Would love to get any suggetions out there. I dont have alot of $ so if anyone knows of a not too expensive cruise line that would be good. Look forward to any suggetions or stories. Thanks

Tijuana answers:

For cheap prices go on non holiday seasons(christmass or summer holidays)and i suggest royal caribbean or carnival cruise lines

Price starts from around $350on a 3 night baja mexico cruise to ensenada

Price starts from around $400 on a 4 night baja mexico cruise to ensenada and Catinal island

go on both cruise lines website

good luke
happy trip

Charles asks…

What other cruise lines are similar to Carnival and have itineraries to Mexico?

we’ve sailed Carnival twice and taken the only good 2 cruise itineraries to Mexico they offer (4 day Catalina and Ensenada. 7 day puerto vallarta, mazatlan, cabo san lucas)

my parents will only sail to Mexico and all of Carnival’s other itineraries are to the same places we’ve already visited just in altered orders. we can’t take the 8 day from San Diego due to vacation planning

so what’s another great cruise line with cruises to Mexico?

Tijuana answers:

If they will only sail to Mexico, have you considered the other side of Mexico? Cozumel, Cancun.

Royal is similar to Carnival in terms of price. Other than that everyone is going to be more expensive. Princess and Celebrity would provide different itineraries but I wouldn’t consider them like Carnival at all.

You did not mention the 7 day Carnival Spirit # Ports of call:Cabo San Lucas, MexicoMazatlan, MexicoLa Paz, Mexico.

But really LA and San Diego have limited itineraries and the oldest ships. If they would consider another port you’d have more choices but there just aren’t that many Baja Mexico cities, especially if you are ruling out anything longer. Royal offers several great 9, 10, and 11 night cruises that go to Acapulco and Ixtapa. They also offer a great Panama Canal that mostly stops in Mexico though does add Guatamala and Costa Rico on that though those are 13 and 15 nights.

Norwegian does the same ports too but at least it would be a different ship. Princess has LA to Santa Barbara to Ensenada. Celebrity only does 13-17 night ones out of there.

But if they can’t do anything other than Under 7 days or anything other than Mexico, you’ll be doing the same Itinerary over and over until you are old enough to book your own. At least when you book your own you’ll be smart enough to not get so set in your ways you miss out on EVERYTHING other than the same couple ports.

Tijuana Baja California News

Daniel asks…

Xolos owner fixed the championship?

all right since nobody here believes when I say that Tijuana along with jorge hank ron fixed the championship well here it goes.

Jorge Hank Rhon is the son of former Estado de Mexico governor which the capital is Toluca and “PRI” politician Carlos Hank Gonzalez. Now Jorge hank is the owner of the largest illegal betting/gambling chain in Mexico. The “caliente” race grounds are notorious for narco trafico and for being a safe haven for the narcos of the baja california cartel aka the arellano-felix cartel. Jorge hanks home was raided in 2011. federales found like 80 military exclusive weapons 2 of them linked to 2 different murders and about 9,000 rounds of ammunition and a massive amount of marijuana (kilos)

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/news/story?id=1309364&s=mex&type=story

his team, the xolos, were at risk to be eliminated due to the chargers already mentioned, but surprisingly enough the FMF let him change the name on the ownership of the club to his son jorge hank inzunza. weird? i think so! weird because after the name change, his son was on futbol picante and declared his father as the still owner of the club! WTF! WEIRD? DEFINATELY!

Toluca-Tijuana: carlos hank (father of jorge hank) ex governor of estado de Mexico. jorgr hank ron-ex mayor of tijuana and runner up of baja california for governor. both belong to el “PRI” which everyone knows they have the most corrupt politicians in Mexico. Enrique Peña Nieto, current president of Mexico, former estado de Mexico governor, also belongs to el “PRI” and an elite cult named “grupo atlacomulco” whos leader is carlos hank and this cult is known for being an exclusive “PRI” organization that goes deep into organized crime and drug trafficking.

now on to football

dont you think its weird that LEON beat xolos 4-0, 2-0, was the ONLY team to score atleast once in every game win or lose, home or away, was the team with the best offense, and you gunna tell me LEON couldnt score 1 in el caliente? smells like bull$h!t to me. xolos did not win a game by a larger defecit than 1 and u gunna tell me tjey score 3 easily on LEON? yeah right!

tijuana NOT a new team!

tijuana has had around 10 teams in 2nd division in the last 20 years atleast. in 1990 LEON beat inter de tijuana to promote to 1st division. tijuana has had inter, nacional, xolos, gallos, dorados, tijuana stars, chivas tijuana, petroleros, trotamundos. all in a 20 year span. so NO tijuana isnt a new club! they were never able to promote untill hank bought the liga de ascenso.

el turko had never won a league championship as coach and what a coincidance?

in Mexico, you can only play with 5 extranjeros on the pitch. tijuana plays with 8!

why was the final in Toluca changed to 6pm instead of the traditional 12pm when playing in toluca? special reques? coincidence? narco dinero involved!

Tijuana answers:

Okay your first points seem valid about the PRI thing.

Xolos v. Leon ehh anything could happen in the liguilla.

There’s always a first time when a coach wins a championship.

Corona and Castillo are Americans so they don’t count as extranjeros and Chango Moreno obtained citizenship.

Idk about the time thing though.

Linda asks…

How come Mexico complains about U.S. deporting illegal Mexican criminals back to Mexico what Mexico wants us?

How come Mexico complains about U.S. deporting illegal Mexican criminals back to Mexico why does Mexico wants us to keep their criminals here at our expense ? TIJUANA — Less than four months after he was released from a Nevada prison and deported to Mexico, Fermín Pérez Juárez is in trouble again. He is now behind bars in Tijuana, accused along with four others in the kidnapping and torture of a man who was hoping to be smuggled into the United States.

It wasn’t just the brutality of the crime, committed last month in the city’s Zona Norte, that commanded attention in Tijuana newspaper headlines and on TV broadcasts. It was the people allegedly behind the crime: Pérez and the other suspects are deportees with U.S. criminal records, Mexican authorities said.

Illegal immigration is a contentious topic in the United States, but it can be a touchy subject in Mexico, too. This is especially true in northern border cities such as Tijuana, where hundreds of Mexicans are returned each day.

The city’s officials say the presence of large numbers of deportees poses public safety problems and further strains social-service programs. Business owners near the border complain that they drive up crime and drive away customers. Deportees say they often are made to feel like convicts even when they are not — ostracized, unable to find work, lacking any family or friends in the area, targeted by police as well as criminals who shake them down and take their money and documents.

Though theses issues are not new, an unprecedented effort by the U.S. government to deport foreigners convicted of crimes is raising alarm in Tijuana.

“They arrive in border cities and they don’t have work, they don’t anywhere to live, they don’t have documents,” said Adán Velázquez, head of criminal investigations in Tijuana for the Baja California Attorney General’s Office. “They become addicted to drugs, they wander the streets, they are bad for the city’s image and have become a serious problem.”

While the Mexican government offers deportees transportation back to their hometowns, many of them choose to remain near the U.S.-Mexico border in hopes of making another crossing. But increasingly tight U.S. security along the border makes such returns far more difficult, so deportees linger in limbo.

“Before, we didn’t have so many people getting stuck in Tijuana,” said the city’s security chief, Alberto Capella.

Traveling to Baja California in two weeks alone, by bus and looking for inexpensive housing.?

I’m a middle-aged woman who enjoys low-level travel (4 star hotels are all alike! :) I have 5 days to spend in Baja California and I’d like to travel at least as far down the peninsula as the whale watching areas on the Pacific side, maybe going over to the Sea of Cortez for a day or two. I’m planning to travel by bus, by myself, and am thinking about just winging it and looking for lodging when I get there, but this is tourist season, so I’m not sure that’s wise. I prefer small, local hotels but I’d take my hammock and sleep in a campground if that was remotely reasonable! Can anyone suggest places to stay near Guerrero Negro and Santa Rosalia? I don’t want to do a tour. Will I be able to hire a fisherman to take me out to see the whales on my own, or join up with a group once I’m there? And any advice on appropriate clothing, weather, food, safety, bus travel? I should add that I don’t speak much Spanish, but I’m willing to look stupid acting things out. Thanks!

Tijuana answers:

Since many of the hotels in Baja Norte are suffering from reduced occupancy due to the criminal unpleasantness in Tijuana you are coming at a good time. The bad news is its cold down here right now. I’d stop in Rosarito, check out the hotel prices (no stars here) and take the bus to G. Negro.. Going to the gulf side from the Pacific side will take a little more time than you think. You need to do a little more travel planning, 5 days goes very quickly.

Mexico

Mary asks…

Is it safe to travel to Mexico with peanut allergies?

I am planning to travel to Mexico with my family, and my child has severe peanut allergies. We still want to go to Mexico, but we don’t know if its safe for my child.
Any one have any insight?
Thanks!
This is pertaining to restaurants. Any one with peanut allergies that went to Mexico have a good and safe restaurant recommendation?
Thanks!
We’re talking Los Cabos here… Just so it makes it easier.

Tijuana answers:

In general Mexico is not very aware of the peanut allergy so you must be very careful when you ask if something has peanuts or has been in contact with peanuts. Actually there are no peanut free schools or things like that. I think that depends on the allergy grade you kid has.
Anyway, if you are going to a Hotel you probably can talk to the chef and make sure the food he is taking is peanuts free but again, if a chefs mistake can be a life risk I would think it twice. Pretty much like in the states.

Daniel asks…

How much does it cost to call mexico from verizon wireless?

My husband is in Mexico, and we are “IN” on a family plan. We have verizon wirless cell phones. We do not have an international plan, just a national. Does anyone know what the roaming charge is?

Tijuana answers:

If your husband is using his Verizon wireless phone in Mexico, he will be charged .99/min for call he makes or receives. If you call him on his Verizon wireless phone while he is in Mexico, the minutes he uses will not be counted towards any allowance on your plan. For more info, go to vzw.com, mouse over business on red menu bar, then click on International roaming on the next menu. It will take you to a page with all the info you need for roaming pricing. By the way, you will not be charged long distance if you call your husband’s phone while he is in Mexico because you are calling a U.S. Number, not an international number.

Also, if your husband is going to be “roaming” in Mexico and most likely not making long distance calls to any number in Mexico, then neither of your phones will need the international long distance value pack (3.99 mth). The pack only discounts the long distance rate not any roaming chrgs. Hope this helps!!!

Donna asks…

Is manufacturing in Mexico the most cost effective offshoring opportunity?

When Mexico is compared to China, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and other Asian off shoring countries, is Mexico the best choice?

Tijuana answers:

The following criteria may help determine the cost-effectiveness of outsourcing in any particular geographic zone:

1. Whether the output (products and services) are meant for 100% consumption in the US or some are for re-export or all are for 100% export to other countries.

2. What type of quality of output you are looking for?

3. What is the Shipping-time required for the transportation?

4. What is shipping-cost for the same output if they are outsourced in the countries as mentioned by you?

For example, if the output is meant for consumption in the US and the shipping time (total delivery period) is too long, say 30-days from Asia, than 7-days from Mexico, and also the cost of shipping is say US$ 5000 from Asia than US$ 500 from Mexico, then it is advisable to have that product outsourced to Mexico.

On the other hand, if the product is for selling in Asia, Africa and Europe then it may be a good choice to outsource the same to any of the Asian countries mentioned by you.

We can assume that the quality of output for industrial and consumer items are better taken care in Mexico than in Asia, due to poor work-habit and lack of awareness for quality, than what you can find in Mexico.

So, these can be decided on case-to-case basis and also how much ‘noise’ the US public or politician can generate in outsourcing a particular item to any particular country.

Hope above helps.

Tijuana Mexico Weather

Lisa asks…

what’s the difference between California and Baja california?

the same weather?

Tijuana answers:

Not at all. Baja California is part of Mexico and is the peninsula south of the U.S. Border. It is where Tijuana and Ensenada are located among other vacation spots. The weather is warm to tropical depending on where you are in Baja.

Robert asks…

What’s a good vacation spot in Mexico? What about the food and the people?

Did you have a good time in Mexico? What about safety? Weather?
I’d like to do at least 3 things while I’m there. 1) Go to a nice beach. 2)Go to a major city where I can go to museums, maybe a zoo, and probably a concert(love latin music) 3) Go to an archeological site. Thanx.

Tijuana answers:

It’s hard to say, not knowing what you like, but if you want good beaches, the yucatan is great, but cancun is so touristic that it loses its authenticity. Try Isla Mujeres near Cancun, or Playa del Carmen, or go to Tulum and see the Mayan ruins on the beach.
I didn’t like Acapulco. Pretty from the air, but not at all relaxing or fun.
I love Mexico City. If you like cities, you’d be surprised at the fantasies in this city!
For history, check out San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato. For even older history, check out Teotihuacan and Tula. Puerto Vallarta is a nice town on the beach, but the sand is not beautiful like Yucatan. PV has also a nice old part that is authentic. If you’re a frat boy or just want to go get drunk and flirt with hookers, just go to Tijuana, but that’s not my kind of trip. I could go again and again to Mexico, it’s got great variety and lots of interesting places. Next i want to visit Chiapas and Oaxaca.
Oh, I also went to Cozumel and got my scuba license in 3 days at Studio Blue. It was a tired little town so I had to do something. The reefs were beautiiful!

Richard asks…

David asks…

Where is a good place to stay in Mexico?

Some friends and I are debating about going to Mexico for a week over New Years, but we’re having trouble finding a good place to stay. Where are the good places that are not over the top expensive and a lot of fun?

Tijuana answers:

Hi Zapgal!

Hotels always increase the prices during this time so they will higher than the current prices – which are great, especially in am all-inclusive package.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya (south of Cancun) have the best beaches and the beautiful blue water. The west coast of Mexico has rocky beaches, cold water, and sea weed. If that doesn’t matter to you, there are great hotels and package deals on both coasts of Mexico.

Call a travel agent and have them book you into an all-inclusive. One word of warning, I am also a travel agent and will not book any of my clients in anything lower than a 4-star hotel if food is included. If you book a really cheap all-inclusive deal with air, hotel, meals and drinks included, the first thing they will cut back on is the quality of the food and the drinks will be weak.

Google Mexico Office

Thomas asks…

How long does a carrier pigeon rest while on a journey?

I’ve been watching a carrier/homing pigeon outside of my office. It has been taking shelter under cars, I imaging it would have to try to avoid predators as the day/night goes on. What is going to happen with this pigeon in the next 12 hours?

Tijuana answers:

Ha! This is likely a pigeon that is sick or injured. Unless someone saves it, it will be dinner soon.

A pigeon would not rest on the ground. Something is very wrong.
I recommend you get a cardboard box and put the bird in it. A towel or shirt on the bottom would make it comfy. Then on the way home, stop at a feed store and buy a small bag of cracked corn.

At home pick the pigeon up an feel her chest. If her keel (chest bone) is prominent, she is starving. You may see external parasites on her. Ignore them for now. Drop some corn into the box and put a heavy dish of water in it. See if she responds. You may need to put a heating pad under the box to bring her temp up high enough so she can digest the food. Do not put food or water into her mouth.

Oh – she may not be easy to catch. Hold a large towel or jacket in front of you as you approach her and plop it over her and pick her up into the box.

Can you tell I like pigeons?

Anyway, if she survives the night, she may make it. You can Google – wildlife rehabbers and find one in your state. They may take her in.
I am in New Mexico and would be happy to help you. Email me off Yahoo Answers.

Mexico News

Betty asks…

What do you need or need to do to go to Mexico if you are a born citizen there and just became a U.S citizen?

I have to go to Mexico because of a family emergency but I don’t know if I can go because I just became a citizen of the U.S and don’t have a passport yet but I am a born citizen of Mexico and there was news that if a Mexican born citizen/ U.S made citizen went to Mexico there are no guarantees that you can come back. So what do I do?

Tijuana answers:

This is a good one. Your family emergency and your Green Card, that if you still have, will allow you to fly to and from Mexico. If you have had to surrender your Green Card you will not be able to board a plane destined for a foreign port.
You are in a transition period and they will be tolerant and understanding.
Carry both of your credentials and your explanation and you will be alright.
You certainly can not have both!

Bottom line …you need a passport as an American citizen to fly.
With a Valid Green Card you can fly to and from Mexico.
I dont know where you heard that last statement but once you have American citizenship , you are as American as the rest. You can go to Mexico and not have to worry about coming back.
Idiotic answers are all over this site. To say…you cant get back is a phrase spoken only by idiots.

All Inclusive Resorts In Mexico For Couples

Donald asks…

Should I go on a cruise or an all-inclusive Mexico resort?

I’m leaning towards cruise. Recommendations? I would like the cruise to be all-inclusive including alcohol if possible. Also, one that goes to good places.
I heard that for some you just stop on an island for a few hours and they give you options to do a couple different expensive things, and I would prefer something where you don’t have to spend a lot of extra money to do other things.
Thanks!
Sounds like the verdict is the all inclusive resorts. Besides eating, drinking, and being by the pool/ocean, what things are there to do? It seems like it would get boring just sitting around all day?

Tijuana answers:

I prefer the cruise and there is plenty to do on a cruise, they plan lots of activities, and shows.

I prefer Carnival, but it does not include alcohol, spa, coffee shop, or the Casino. Everything else is included

most Lines you will have to buy your drinks
the Lines that include alcohol are:
Yachts Seabourne
Regents Seventh Seas

Joseph asks…

what is the best cruise line for a first time cruise goer?

we are wanting to go on a cruise for our anniversary… any suggestions on the best cruise line for a first time cruise seeker? as far as cost efficiency and time of year to go… our anniversary is in sept. and we would like to go on a warm cruise not like maybe mexico or bahamas? any suggestions on location would be great too.

Tijuana answers:

A cruise is a great idea. In response to the other post, an all-inclusive resort is an okay idea until you compare the cost. With international airfare and the high price of the resort, the all-inclusives I’ve priced always end up costing 3x the price of a cruise. What do you get for the extra hundreds of dollars you pay that you don’t get on a cruise? Not a lot. Throw in the extra inconvenience of (more) flights, and the cruise is just a better experience in my book.

Destinations: the Bahamas is kind of overrated in my opinion. If you do Caribbean, look for destinations more in the Eastern / Southern end such as St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, etc. I also enjoy going to Mexico more than the Bahamas. If you’ve never been, Cozumel is a perfectly acceptable cruise destination. I’ve been there a couple times and still enjoy it.

It’s hard to beat Carnival for low fares. Their ships range from brand new to around 20 years old, so try to find a newer ship such as Dream. The older ships are maintained well, but will lack features that you’ll find on the newer ones. Carnival is a pretty good line, despite some things you hear.

I would recommend a cruise of about 7 days in length for first-timers. I would not go less than 5 days, for sure. Use a good cruise search engine to compare rates and find a good price. Travelocity’s cruise search is pretty good if you use the ‘advanced’ search options. Vacationstogo.com has a very good search engine too. (Both are travel agents, but you can book your cruise direct with the line if you prefer).

Just to give you an idea of what’s out there. Carnival has a 7 night cruise departing Miami on September 25, 2010 on Carnival Liberty, built in 2005. It goes to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. You can get an oceanview cabin on this sailing for $449 per person (plus tax), an excellent deal.

The Emerald Princess leaving Fort Lauderdale on September 12 is also an excellent value at just $545 for Oceanview. (Princess is a good bit more upscale than Carnival.)

If you do decide to cruise, check into the passport situation now. Many “closed loop” cruises can be done without passport, but it’s still a very good idea to have one. If you needed to fly home in an emergency, you can’t do so without a passport. A passport will cost you about $125 per person and they take a month or two to process. A passport is good for ten years.

If you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Good luck.

Richard asks…

How many mexican pesos are sufficient for TWO WEEKS in Cancun?

I’m planning two weeks in Cancun with my girlfriend in 2013, I understand that there is a good exchange rate from pound sterling to mexican pesos. However I need to know how much mexican good cost, from food to gifts etc.

Our holiday will be mostly lazing around the beaches, a couple of visits to downtown as well as other attractions, eating out every night (restaurants or street food, not fussed), and beverages during the day as well as a good drink in the evening.

With this kind of holiday, what would be a good amount of pesos for each of us, baring in mind that during the day we will be soaking up the sun.

Only people with a background knowledge, ie stayed in Mexico etc leave answers please.

Tijuana answers:

It depends whether your going all inclusive, ive been to mexico 5 times, different resorts each time and all have been all inclusive, the food in most 4 stars and 5 stars in mexico are very good, so if you are then you wont need much, we take money to go on the trips, there are some fantastice trips to go on but they cost money.. Cenote trips, chitzen itza, tulum, the night club coco bongo is amazing, high wire acts over your head, unbelievable. But any i wont go on. If you are staying in a non all inclusive, it depends what you like eating, if you do mexican then taco’s and burrito’s are cheap as hell and fill you up if you get 2 for virtually nothing, although hygiene in the towns is not great i dont think anything will kill you, ive never been ill of the food in mexico but the all inclusive resorts guarantee this as they are all superb.. Have not been to mexico for 2 years so im not sure if there ha been any changes to currecny levels. Any questions get in touch..hope this helps.. BEST HOLIDAYS I HAVE EVER HAD HAVE BEEN IN MEXICO..

What are some good National Parks in the Rocky Mountain (Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico) area?

My family is taking a vacation this summer to the Rocky Mountain area. We have already decided to visit Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. We ruled out Mount Rushmore and Death Valley. Thanks in advance!

Mesa Verde in SW Colorado is amazing! Beautiful scenery and lots of Anasazi ruins…some of them you can hike around in. If you go there, you must see Cliff Palace and Balcony house.

Along those same lines (old Indian ruins), Chaco Canyon (near Cuba, NM) is really cool, as is Bandelier (near Los Alamos, NM).

Tent Rocks just south of Santa Fe, NM is awsome.

Canyon de Chelly in NE Arizona is gorgeous–home of Spider Woman Rock (you’d recognize it from Jeep commercials).

What about Zion National Park in Utah?

When you go to Vegas, make sure to check out Hoover Dam…it’s unbelievable.

Those are some of my favorites. Enjoy your trip!

Helen asks…

Can a canadian citizen visit Cuba then visit the USA?

I am a canadian citizen and I want to go on a 7-day holiday getaway to Cuba (because it has reasonable prices and whatnot) But then when I get back to Canada I want to go visit my dad who lives in the US. I know the USA and Cuba don’t get along and US citizens aren’t allowed entrance/ or have penalties if they travel to Cuba. I was wondering if they would let me (a canadian citizen) enter the US if I have traveled to Cuba.

Tijuana answers:

If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident and/or don’t reside in the United States, you should have no problem travelling between US and Cuba.

US laws ban “US persons” (citizens, PRs, residents or companies registered in the US) from entering/spending money in Cuba, but this ban does not apply to foreign visitors to the US.

Note that flights between US and Cuba are severely limited – no commercial airlines are allowed to operate between the two countries.

So a bigger problem for you may actually be finding a flight to take you from Cuba to the US or vice versa (you may have to travel through Mexico or return back to Canada first).

Robert asks…

Is it legal to get dental work done in Mexico?

I’m going to get braces done in Mexico and since the boder patrol always asks you why you came to Mexico I was wondering if it would be safe and legal to tell him that I come down to Mexico to tighten my braces every month.

thanks!

Tijuana answers:

Tyler, there are websites, organizations, television commercials and billboards advertising medical and dental treatment in Mexico to US residents.

Of course it is legal! You can tell the border agents the truth about any legal purpose for your visit. To see your doctor, to go shopping, to visit relatives, to get a suntan… Whatever! Actually, honesty is always the best answer. If for any reason they ever have reason to check your answer, you will never be caught in a deception.

Congratulations on getting your braces for under half the cost in the US!

Tijuana answers:

The street that you enter the city is the main street were in the weekends in the summer (not sure in winter) there is people outside walking and hanging around. There are many stores and restaurants. Its really nice. The next street to the left are more stores. The people are nice. There are a lot of little stands were they sell jewelry and lil suveniers. You can bring U.S. Dollars but its better if you changed them to pesos.

Mandy asks…

driving directions ensenada mexico to tecate border crossing?

I’m looking for directions driving from Ensenada Mexico to the Tecate border crossing. I always get lost!

Tijuana answers:

Previous replies were all good. However, last time in Ensenada, I took the highway that went directly to Tecate. The exit is just a bit north of Coral Hotel and I believe it’s Highway 3. As you come into Tecate, keep going straight. When you see the McDonald’s at thye right hand cforner, you’re a block away from the main drag. Continue straight up and left at the end. Can’t miss the exit to the states. Just follow the traffic. Beautiful drive, by the way. Only reason I took it was I don’t like TJ, the confusing streets, exits, traffic, etc…..

Thomas asks…

Would mid-March be an ok time to go on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico– weather wise?

I want to go on a cruise in mid-March to Ensenada, Mexico, but I’m not sure that the weather will be great then. I’ve looked at past weather reports and they say it should be ok, but I’d like to hear about someone’s experience. Has anyone gone on a cruise to Ensenada in March and how was the weather?

Tijuana answers:

Well, it wont be HOT like as if were summer, but it will be great weather. As mentioned above, we have the same weather as los angeles and this part of the world has the greatest weather.

We dont get nasty weather. We dont get tornadoes or hurricanes or the like. Oh, see our new marina!!

You will be ok. Come and enjoy our city. We get tourists from all over the world at all times of the year.
