All Inclusive Resorts In Mexico Cancun

David asks…

What should i pack for a weeklong trip to Cancun?

Me and my boyfriend are going to an all inclusive resort ‘cancun palace’ in cancun. Since i have never been, does anyone know what i should pack?

Tijuana answers:

Personal items (toothbrush, razor, etc.), sunscreen, light clothing (include some nice casual stuff for nightclubs), a light jacket for nights on the beach, underwear, swimsuits, Immodium, Advil or Tylenol, condoms. Don’t worry about water, the bottled water in Mexico is just fine.

Maria asks…

How much spending money do I need for a week in Cancun?

My boyfriends parents gave us a weeks vacation for an allinclusive resort in Cancun. This includes alcohol and day trips to the rain forest, ruins, etc. I was wondering how far the U.S. dollar goes in Mexico, and how much I should bring for shopping. I’m actually not that big of a shopper anyways, mostly a browser. Any idea?

Tijuana answers:

I’ve always brought about $200 U.S. Dollars with me, in the amount of small bills, like 1’s, and 5’s because I do a lot of tipping. I’ve always returned home with cash left over.

If you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort, other than tipping (Please tip the staff, even if gratuities are included in the price, because those people really do work hard and don’t get paid much for the great service that the do) and maybe buying a few items at the gift shops, you probably won’t be spending a lot of money while on the property. Most All-Inclusives have everything you need right there.

If you venture outside of the property, such as doing some club hopping, then you’re looking at a little bit for transportation, such as taxis or the bus, cover charges at the clubs, and meals at fancy restaurants, or for shopping.

Another reason to take small bills is so that you don’t have to worry about doing cash exchange if you don’t want to. Most businesses down there who cater to tourists will accept U.S. Currency. By taking small bills, you can pay very close to the asked price, without worrying so much about getting your change back. If you pay in U.S. Dollars, they’ll most likely give you your change in the form of Pesos. If something cost 12 dollars, and I give them 15, I don’t worry about the change. They appreciate that “tip”.

Using an atm down there is not something I recommend, or have ever had to do. Yes, it’s important to notify your bank before you go, so that your card works when you’re asked to present it at check-in. But if you use an atm, keep in mind that many banks can charge ridiculous surcharges when you use your card in an atm or point-of-sale machine in a foreign country. Bring your cards for check-in and for emergencies, but pay with cash when possible, to avoid those charges.

Chris asks…

Where is the best place in Mexico to go in August?

10-15 friends and I are planning a trip to Mexico in August before we all have to go back to University.

I heard this is the hurricane season and it can be quite rainy. However, being the only time that we can go, we need some advice in where would be the least rainy place.

Also we would like an area that has good nightlife :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much

(also any Mexico travel tips or recommended all inclusive resorts would be awesome)

Tijuana answers:

Well it depends what you wanna do. If you want to get wasted in fancy places you have to go to Mexico City you can stay at Four Seasons that is located in Reforma one of the main avenues.
If you wanna swim in the sea and get wasted you can go to Acapulco and stay in Fairmount Princess awesome hotel btw.
If you wanna see some of old mexican cultures you have to travel to Yucatan which also has beatiful beaches and you can go to Chichen Itza to know more about mayan culture. The best hotel here it’s the Fiesta Americana
Or the last one go to Cancun it has the best beaches in Mexico and it’s part of the Caribbean so it have white sand and a very clear water you can see through. The best hotel is the Xpu-ja Palace
