Sandra asks…

Going to San Diego soon, are there any good things to check out besides the obvious??

We are already planning on visitnig, disney land, sea world, lego land, the zoo, and going to tiajauna mexico, Anything great we are missing!?!?!

Tijuana answers:

Downtown La Jolla and La Jolla Cove are is a great place for food, shopping, the beach, and snorkeling. It’s one of the most best spots in SD too just walk around. Belmont Park in Mission Beach and Garnett Ave in Pacific Beach are good places to soak up the sun and scene. Also go to the Hotel Del Coronado and walk around Coronado, really nice, upscale beach town.

Balboa Park right next to the Zoo has tons of Museums, a botanical garden and an Imax theater.

The Gaslamp Quarter is great for nightlife and dining and if the Padres are in town try to check out a game.

One of the best summer events in SD is the Del Mar Horse Races. The season runs until Sept 5 and attracts over 30,000 people a day. It’s a very nice track and is great to go to even if you don’t like betting on horse racing. It’s also across the street from the beach.

Torrey Pines State Park and Beach is a great place to hike, check out the views, and to go to the beach. Other beaches like La Jolla Shores and most North County beaches are pretty nice.

Old Town is good for Mexican food and if you want to learn a little about CA history. And if you like BBQ, go to Phil’s BBQ off Sports Arena Blvd, best bbq in SD.

Drive to Cabrillo National Monument at the end of Point Loma and check out one of the best panoramic views of SD. It has the best view of Downtown SD and you can see all the way from south Orange County to Tijuana on a clear day. Mt. Soledad in La Jolla is also a good spot for views. Maybe consider renting a jet ski or boat in Mission Bay.

Betty asks…

What’s the best places to see in San Diego CA?

Tijuana answers:

There are a lot of different things to see and do in San Diego, depending on what your tastes are. Here are some of the more popular things that vistors like to check out:
1. Balboa Park – it is home to the San Diego Zoo, which has pandas, polar bears, koalas, elephants and more, as well as several museums (art, science, anthrolpology, natural history, aerospace, photography) and some cool scenery.
2. Beaches – whether you’re into surfing, swimming, partying, boogieboarding, peoplewatching, sunbathing, or just finding a sunny spot to read, there’s probably a beach for you.
3. Nightlife – downtown has the Gaslamp District, filled with bars, clubs, and restaurants, and other parts of town for nightlife are Hillcrest & Pacific Beach.
4. Outdoors & Nature – besides beach activities, there are lots of opportunities for sailing, golf, tennis, hiking, mountain biking, etc. If you like nature, check out hiking on Mount Palomar, or whale watching in Point Loma, or checking out the tide pools in La Jolla, or the Chula Vista Nature Center.
5. Historical sites – from Mission San Diego and Old Town to the Cabrillo Lighthouse and the Maritime Museum (old sailing ships) and the USS Midway (aircraft carrier), San Diego has a lot of neat historic sites.
6. Tourist destinations – besides the Zoo and Wild Animal Park, there is also Sea World, Legoland, the Big Dipper roller coaster on the beach at Belmont Park, the San Diego Padres (baseball), Chargers (Football), and Tijuana is just across the border in Mexico.
