Tijuana Mexico Nightlife

Laura asks…

if you are 18 and up tj is the place to be

Tijuana answers:

While the main draw of Tijuana is the fact that the drinking age there is 18 as opposed to 21 in the US and there are quite a few bars and clubs that cater to the 18-21 crowd of Americans, there are also a few other neat things to do in Tijuana. There are opportunities for shopping as well as the cultural center. They also have an IMAX theater that shows regular movies, something that San Diego doesn’t have. Like someone else mentioned, there’s the beach communities of Rosarito and Ensenada that also might be more fun than just Tijuana.

San Diego also has lots of fun things to do:

Check out some cool outdoor places – there are many different beaches in San Diego, each with their own best features. Some are good for surfing, others are good for sunbathing and people watching. Others are good for walks or snorkeling or taking the family.
Other daytime fun might include visiting the San Diego Zoo, located in Balboa Park. Balboa Park also houses several nice museums and gardens. You can also take in the view from Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma or the Presidio hill just above Old Town State Park or the ocean view at Torrey Pines State Reserve. For unique shopping experiences, check out downtown La Jolla, or Seaport Village (on San Diego Bay) or for serious shopping, go to Horton Plaza (downtown) or outlet shopping in Carlsbad, Viejas, or San Ysidro. There are also many resorts for tennis and golf. For the kids, you can go to Legoland in Carlsbad, or Sea World. There’s also plenty of opportunities for sailing, day hikes, surf kayakking, mountain biking and rock climbing.

At night, there are lots of great restaurants and clubs in the Gaslamp Quarter (downtown), and some more nice restaurants in Little Italy (downtown). Pacific Beach’s bars are popular with college students for drinking, and Hillcrest has a trendy nightlife, and is the center of the region’s gay and lesbian community. Ocean Beach has a more laid back nightlife. Old Town has some nice tourist-oriented Mexican places with good food and big margaritas. There’s lots of movie theaters around town, and also some decent performing arts venues – for concerts, and plays.

Maria asks…

I’m travelling to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico next month. What’s the nightlife like?

I don’t speak Spanish and me and my bro are excited about checking out some Mexican nightlife. He’s been to Tijuana and said it was awesome. We’re visiting El Paso for a couple days, then hittin’ up Ciudad Juarez. Does anyone have any suggestions about nightlife in Juarez? Any cool places, bars or restaurants, to check out? I don’t love clubs myself, I’m more of a pub guy…but my bro wants to do a couple clubs while we are down there. Any suggestions?
Why are people talking about the dangers? Thank you to Maya Angelou, the only one who actually recommended a place. People, before answering, please read the question.

Tijuana answers:

Definitely hit up Las Barritas! It’s the hottest place in the city, and it actually has more of a pub atmosphere.

Ruth asks…

Which is the best US city…?

… for a vacation time of 15 days? What’s the one thing I should not miss while visiting?

Tijuana answers:

Go to Southern Ca b/c you’ll have plenty to do for 15 days worth of stuff. Spend a week up in LA/Orange County checking out all the famous sites and tourist attractions there like Hollywood, Santa Monica, Universal Studios, Disneyland, Venice, ect… LA is a huge city and you can find tons of things to do. Orange County is great for theme parks and beaches, check out Newport and Laguna beaches. Then head down to San Diego and check out all the things down there like the Zoo, SeaWorld, Wild Animal Park, ect.. Downtown SD is really cool and fun and has great nightlife. If the Padres are in town you can go to a game at the new ballpark. Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are great beaches for partying. La Jolla and Coronado have the nicest beaches. Tijuana, Mexico is also a fun and interesting day trip and is about 15 minutes south of Downtown SD.
