Sandy asks…

What would be good ideas for community service for college?

Im a freshman in high school and need to accumulate hours for college. im deciding weather volunteering at a nursing home, boys and girls club, big brothers/big sisters, or volunteering at an orphanage in tijuana mexico. im mexican so ill fit in.well anyways, what would look best? thanks

oh and would volunteering in the construction of churches be considered community service? im a Jehovahs witness and i volunteer in helping build more kingdom halls (churches). does this count? thanks

Tijuana answers:

You should choose things that involve whatever you enjoy doing as your own personal extracurricular activity (: Colleges love individuality. It sets you apart from other students.

Ex: If you enjoy church activities, talk to your pastor about the opportunity.
Good Luck (:

Tijuana answers:

Any of the things you mentioned would be good, especially working with and mentoring children.

Any activity that you do in the community that you don’t get paid for would considered community service IF it benefits others in the community.

Donald asks…

Websites to find information about the current health and environmental conditions in Tijuana Mexico?

As a result of the factories lining the boarder. I already know the basic information but I need more details. I’m having trouble finding good information using Google.

Thanks!

Tijuana answers:

Maybe try the weather network website. I think they give air quality readings for smog and pollen as well.
